Katariina was born in Finland and studied art in Japan at the Tokyo Design School, with private tuition from traditional Japanese watercolour painter Shin Nakamura, and illustration and print-making at the City & Guilds of London Art School.

Her published work incudes "Ollie and the Bogle" by Julia Jarman, published by Andersen Press, and "The Little Fox and The Big Shadow", which she both wrote and illustrated, published by WSOY in Finland.
